WOULD THAT BE SWEET, co-written with Gary Painting.

Last year, I wrote a song with Gary Painting, aka Sketchy. Gary lives in London (London, England for my Ontario friends) but he’s a member of Cross the Border, a band based in Scotland who just released their first CD. So, suffice to say, Gary knows a bit about long distance collaboration.

He sent me a guitar idea and, with a bit of tinkering from me, it turned into a song. It worked well enough that we wrote another and then, another.

That third song is called WOULD THAT BE SWEET and we just finished recording it. Gary plays the lovely guitar part that became the first section of the melody and inspired the rest. I sang it and produced.

My co-Comet, Buck Wilburn was on the bench for this one but don’t be surprised if he makes a contribution to the final, final, FINAL version. (As our regular listeners know, “Mixitagain” is my middle name.)

At any rate, we all hope you enjoy this minor departure from the Postcard Comets methodology. Presenting: WOULD THAT BE SWEET.
